I think that one piece of the puzzle is that “polling” is broken and can’t be trusted anymore. There are aspects of this election season that are not normal and I think it’s getting more dynamic in nature. What the campaign consultants, lobbyists, political prognosticators and talking heads used to base their knowledge on is (hopefully) changing. Perhaps they need to scrap all their algorithms and come up with some new ones?

At least $640M.

And he couldn’t pay it back. So they called in the $40M a Trump owed personally.

Trump couldn’t pay it, so he sued Deutsche Bank for $3B (!) because it was 2008.

He didn’t win of course.

All his ventures are disasters.

no one has denied the cnn tweet ... how do you get from there to announcing at the caucuses that carson supporters should switch to TED because carson is droping out...

who believes an unsourced media report. maybe carson had a famiy emergency, thought ted said media wouldn’t be picking our candidates.

If you read the whole tweet from CNN, it says “@realbencarson will return to FL” and “will not go to either NH or SC”.
Most normal people would read that as Carson ending his campaign.

Normal people wouldn't but Ted Cruz supporters might, a campaign suspended notice is usually done by the candidate's campaign, not an unsourced media report. If Carson was suspending would he have done it 30 min before the caucuses started, and, on the outside chance he was, wouldn't he be the one to direct his followers whom he preferred they vote for? You can't make this right, neither can Truz, and it's very telling of the people who are trying.

50% more voter turnout than 2012. Trump got the second most votes ever by a Republican at a primary.

Cruz has to lose a bit of his soul by using dirty tricks on Carson. It wasn't a tweeted photo of CNN; there was a campaign email warning of 'news coming tonight on Carson' in advance. That's pre-planned and from the top.

Trump erred in not going to the debate. Lots of low information voters make their mind up last minute and they broke Rubio.

Trump has admitted today he erred not going to the debate, which actually is a little refreshing. When was the last time Ted Cruz admitted a mistake? The BIG question is do you have a screen shot of that advance notice? That would be major ...

Cruz had been building his organization in Iowa for months, targeting the heavily evangelical caucus voters there. Iowa was a must win for him and he put everything on the line. For Trump to just come waltzing in and almost beat Cruz there is impressive, don’t let let anybody kid you about that.

Cruz, I believe, was in Iowa for nearly a year. Trump hasn't even been in the race for 8 months.

If Ted were to win the nomination, what does he plan on doing when the dems pull out the YouTube videos of his pastor and father claiming that Ted is a king who's been blessed by the priest to rule during the "end times transfer of wealth," or something like that. The Dominion philosophy and all that.

Cruz spoke at a religious liberty conference and the pastor who sponsored it said gays should be killed by christians, but first given a chance to repent. The pastor was basically incoherent, and was calling someone or something pussy little sores. Really devastating as that pastor was a head case. Jake Tapper had asked Cruz before the conference about the pastor's beliefs and Cruz said he didn't know anything about them.

Trump is flaming out. He let you down. He’s not any of the things you thought he was. I understand he lied to you. He fooled a lot of people. But you don’t have to stay with him. No one will think you’re disloyal for leaving him.

Anyone who puts their hope and trust in Trump gets burned in the end. You don’t have to. His curtain has been drawn back. Sane people can see who he is now. You can come back and no one will blame you. I will owe Trump supporters a huge apology when they rescind their support for him.

Your loyalty to your man is admirable. Your steadfast determination to only think him capable of good shows unparalleled optimism. But it was only a dream. He's not what he said he was. I know it's hard letting go of your dreams, but reality kicks in and you have to deal with it. It's over.

Trump fooled a lot of people into thinking the power of his will could make America great again. It can’t. Trump was a shiny object. Nothing more. It’s time to get serious. We will all forgive you when you finally stop propping up this circus performer.

The schedule tells a story. Carson was not in Iowa enough before Monday for anyone to think he was serious.
