EMP threat threads always get ugly on FR, but ...

Metal trash cans and Charles chips cans, (and similar) but NOT microwave ovens will shield electronics if those electronics are wrapped in an insulating material inside those metal containers.

Your late model car, particularly your hybrid, might still function, since they have significantly upgraded shielding to reduce the induction they might CAUSE.

The gas pumps won’t though.

Most any unshielded transistor/integrated circuit will die fried.

Given we're living in an age of digital economies with attempts to drive us toward a 'cashless' one; an EMP that takes our power, data, and communication systems out would be disastrous.

A likelihood of such an event, given that we're doing little to nothing to harden these systems, is increasing everyday.

More countries are developing the ability to carry out such an attack, plus we also are exposed to such an event from our own sun, when a massive CME sus in the future like we were hit in the past.
