Trump bravely went where no other republican candidate would go. Bush2 did get us mired in a totally unnecessary war in Iraq. Hussein was not involved in 9/11, why he became a target is because Bush2 felt that Bush1 had been humiliated by Hussein for simply hanging onto power in Iraq after the Bush1 instigated war. Trump was also right that the Iraq war destabilized the Middle East, and increased Iranian influence in the area.

(CNN) — The Bush administration began planning to use U.S. troops to invade Iraq within days after the former Texas governor entered the White House three years ago, former Treasury Secretary Paul O’Neill told CBS News’ 60 Minutes.

That's my recollection, also. I know I was puzzled that W seemed hellbent on invading Iraq, even before 9/11. All too often in government and many other areas I'm afraid those in authority often decide what they want to do, then give orders that their underlings provide the rationale for doing it.

W hasnt said a word for seven years.

Of course he has. On two different occasions he spoke out against those who'd opposed his two big pushes to grant amnesty to illegal aliens. The most noticed occasion was his"isms" speech, where he warned us all against those terrible, recurring isms: protectionism, isolationism and nativism.

Sort of tipped us off as to what his real priorities were and still are.

Chemical weapons are not weapons of mass destruction.

Of course they are.

Just about every country in the world has them.

But liberals won't admit that Saddam had them, even AFTER admitting that Syria has them and has used them, then a report the other day that even ISIS has them. Still, no apology from liberals.

“Then years later W. said there were no WMDs.”

Context, context, context. Yes, after “WMDs weren’t found,” Bush went with the flow and went with the new consensus. Politicians do that.

Saddam had WMDS and used then in his war with Iran, and with Shia and Kurds in his own nation. No one disputes this.

We had several reasons for going to war with Iraq. These are documented in law, under Presidents Clinton and Bush. The press made it all about “stocks of WMDs.”

Colin Powell showed photographs of mobile fermenting labs. Later, the DIA and CIA disagreed as to their purpose. Only one side was reported, so one “fact” was “flipped.” There were several reports on WMDs being moved out of the country, but these were not advanced by the main stream media.

This is a text-book case of turning the truth on its head. I realize that politicians might feel they would be tilting at windmills trying to set the record straight. But there is no good reason to lend support to falsehoods.

I knew there were others who had seen it. So I’m still standing firm that there were WMDs in Iraq that they were moved to Syria.

I'm with you, too. I saw the photos of the trucks going into Syria.

Wish 'W' had stood up for himself instead of saying it was bad intel.

No Trump doesn’t know it. He is a New York Times above the fold reader. His social life has included dinner conversations with liberals and he parrots their remedial explanation of why Bush went into Iraq. He simply wanted to remind the debate audience of why everyone should hate the Bush Family. I can not imagine a true conservative running for the presidential nomination, repeating liberal spew. What’s his next talking point......GWB made Muslims wear women’s panties on their heads at Abu Graib?

“I still remember a documentary on the history channel that showed truck after truck traveling out of Iraq to Syria under cover of night.”

General Tommy Franks said he wanted to act, but it was within the 24 hour deadline Bush had given to Saddam. If Bush had given Franks permission, the press would have gone after Bush for his surprise attack - a new day of infamy. It seems most WMDs went to Syria.

“WMD’s for him are nuclear weapons and Iraq did not have those’

Pretty much sums up what kind of idiot you support for president.

Bio and chemical are also WMDs but the Donald is too stupid to know that.

The polls are in the low 30% that approve of going into Iraq

At the time, in 2003,polls were >80% in favor of invading Iraq. Given what was known, or believed, I believe it was the right thing to do.

I don't fault Trump, or anyone for having a different opinion. It was a judgement call. But, for Trump to now claim Bush was lying is despicable. If there was any chance I would support Trump....last night ended it.

That’s part of his November strategy. He is NOT ABOUT to let himself be labeled as a defender of W Bush, when Bush wouldn’t even defend himself!

It’s a BRILLIANT contrast with Hillary - who voted for that same war and still has a chance to be the nominee.

“Fact : saddam has WMD, and saddam used those WMD`s on lunatic jhiadis.”

Saddam used the WMDs on the Kurds; Saddam was convicted of this.

Don’t know why chemical weapons would not be considered WMD. We also know that before we went into Iraq, the powers that be had time to move a lot of stuff out of the country. As I recall, there were a lot of stories going around about that at the time.

“Two Bush presidencies should be enough to establish that that family is populated with lying politicians. Be honest with yourselves.”

I’m no fan of Jeb. But I think it is crazy to throw anyone and everyone under the bus to advance Trump. If President Trump were to shut down FR, to the approval of a majority of the public, would you be there cheering him on?

And Obama withdrew troops and Iraq did not get into this mess, nor Syria as well until 2011, the Arab Spring and into 2014 with ISIS, hence, these indeed are Democratic “blame Bush” points.
