The most eye-rolling moment of the night is Ted Cruz saying taxes will be reduced to a post card. Is Ted an environmentalist caused he recycled that garbage from the last bazillion idiots that promised that.

No way that happens....ever...

Um, that's the entire point of the flat tax plan. Not everyone will be able to 'postcard' their taxes, but a large number of the general populace will send in a postcard: income minus deductions (self/spouse/kids) times tax percentage, and here's your tax. That's it.

I’ve been hearing variations of these tax reform ideas every election for about 50 years. The tax code cannot be simplified until the concept of government moves away from a mommy state / big brother who decides what is best for us, how much to steal from us, and what to buy with it.

As long as people believe taxes are justifiable, and the govt has a right to tax, especially someone else (as in the growing popularity of the irrational concept of income inequality), no one in the govt is going to disavow them of that notion.
