So you buy a poll that states Rubio can beat the Democrats?
I'd say a bigger reason is that those on the right accept the claims of George W., McCain, Romney, and Trump that they are really, truly conservatives. Despite all the signs to the contrary, we believed them (or at least, hoped for the best). The sad thing is that even Romney had a more credible conservative political history than Trump.

Not everything can be, or must be, religious.
