from Wikiopedia:

Paul J. Manafort is an American lobbyist and political consultant. He was an adviser to the presidential campaigns of Republicans Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bob Dole, and George W. Bush, and is currently employed by the presidential campaign of Donald Trump, as well as being a senior partner in the firm Davis, Manafort and Freedman.

The ultimate insider GOPe lobbyist. Trump is showing his true colors.

Can't wait to see how the Trump supporters explain this away.

We were hoping he would hire someone at random from one of his rallies.

But no, dammit, Trump had to go and hire the best man for the job.

Well Bob, Cruz supporters have been bragging how Cruz has all these moves, and all the best people, etc., and mocking Trump for not putting together a team that can best help him with the delegate situation at the convention.

Well, Trump is putting together his own team now. Why wouldn’t he hire the best person for the job? Just because he has run so far with tiny staff, nearly non-existent ground game? Should he sit on his hands while the establishment and Cruz all crow about how Trump hasn’t got the sense to hire the “right people”? Trump may be a brand new novice politician, but he isn’t a stupid man.

So you’re saying Ronald Reagan was true GOPe.

Manafort was a campaign consultant for GWB. Cruz worked on those campaigns. Manafort probably knows how Cruz operates and how to counterpunch.

"Can't wait to see how Trump supporters explain this away."? It isn't obvious? The core of US values is a sense of fair play. When someone doesn't play fair, you do whatever it takes to win. Manafort sounds terrific and like he understands how deeply offensive Cruz's campaign techniques are.

Can't wait to see hw Trump supporters explain this away

I'll add to my answer. Don't you listen to Trump at rallies? He's explained to us MANY TIMES that when he negotiates a deal, he'll get the very best people to get the job done. They won't always be the nicest people, some might even be mean, but they'll negotiate a great deal. At this phase, Manafort has the focus and the skills and is in it to get the job done.

Geeesh......you really should spend more time listening to Mr. Trump.

Cruzers on this forum ridicule Trump for complaining about delegate poaching. Why complain when he hires someone to help shepherd delegates? Jealousy?

well..... Cruz went this route in the last few weeks, since march 15th or thereabouts.

Sad as ultimately a look at the math shows the best would be

Trump/Cruz 2016...Cruz 2020

Trump may take the nomination if this new chap is really good, but Trump will not have enough support to make it to the magic 66 million votes unless he has Cruz along for the ride.

Both candidates need to suck it up and make peace. together they will be a formidable ticket.

It’s not hard to explain...Cruz is going around scooping up delegates that Trump honestly won, and now he needs a master of the trade in his corner to prevent this and preserve his delegates. So he hired one of the best.

At least he doesn’t have Neil Bush, Jebs brother, as his campaign finance advisor like Cruz does.

That's easy...He's not buying Trump like the GOPe bought Cruz...Trump is buying him...
