It’s not my intention to be inflammatory here, but think about this. If you swapped the engineering classes of the U of Illinois with the law school class of Harvard (such that the law students would be doing engineering, and the engineering students would be doing law), who do you think would do better. Personally, I don’t think it would even be close to a contest, and am confident that the U of Illinois engineering students would do much, much better with this switch than would the Harvard law students. So, I really could care less what some law school adjunct faculty member has to say about any candidate running to be the President of the US.

Not only that, Kevin...they will not vote for Cruz. You and I will vote Trump, but they will take their ball home if they lose...pains me.

Jim sounded the clarion, and I emptied my bank account to march on D.C. August 11th, 2009. I might have to paint my walls next time. I hope cooler heads prevail.

Okay, that is a good endorsement.

Ted Cruz for Supreme Court.

You can't be serious! That is the mark of legal brilliance.

Because you are brain dead...just sayin’. You Trumpsters are the most vile I have seen.

Sorry to see you go Sgt. I have been a Freeper since nearly day one here, even before 'Monica' when it was the White Water site. I have to say, the Trumpsters have somehow found more hatred for Ted Cruze than the Freepers of the 90's had for Bill Clinton.

Kind of amazing that people who claim to be 'Conservatives' hate the only real conservative in the race.

Maybe they aren't really conservatives? Maybe Trump Groupies? I remember Beatle Mania 50+ years ago. It kind of seams something like that.

They are unbearable. Stupid, arrogant, ill-informed and childishly nasty. Weird too, with a scary loyalty to some clown who just pretend to agree with them on things about six months ago.

Difficult to even be around, really.

Cruz is a very accomplished attorney, no doubt about it. What bothers me about him, in part, is his penchant—like many trained in advocacy—for the half truth, when what we need is a straight talker.

Remember how, when asked about Justice Roberts (who singlehandedly gave us Obamacare) Cruz tried to distance himself from Roberts? He said, “Well, I supported him because he was the president’s nominee.”
He made it sound like he barely knew the man.

Fair enough. But was it really the whole truth? Here’s a quote from a lengthy article on Cruz. When speaking of his role in Bush v. Gore, he talked about how he helped assemble the legal team for the most important case of his life. Who did he call?

John Roberts:

“Cruz’s initial assignment was to assemble a legal team. His first call was to his former mentor Carvin, who wound up representing Bush before the Florida Supreme Court. Cruz’s second call was to a Washington lawyer named John Roberts. “John had been a friend and a Rehnquist clerk—I’ve known John a long time,” Cruz said.”

Cruz’s current attempt to distance himself from his long-time friend Roberts troubles me greatly. Where’s the loyalty? A simple, straightforward truthful answer from Cruz when asked about his role in pushing Roberts for the court should have been “Yes, I thoroughly backed Roberts for the Court, and frankly was disappointed that my long time friend got it wrong.” Because it is clear to anyone who followed that nomination process, as I did, that Cruz was as vocal and enthusiastic supporter for Roberts as a nominee could hope for. He worked tirelessly to see that Roberts was put on the court, and he succeeded.

But rather than just telling the truth, he instead sought to minimize his knowledge of, and friendship with, Roberts. Bluntly put, he threw him under the bus. Just like he wanted Trump to do with Lewandowski. Just toss him aside with a half-truth.

By the way, the article is generally accurate, and fairly laudatory of Cruz.
I will vote for Cruz if he is the nominee, though I hope Trump beats him.
But I am truthfully troubled that Cruz has such difficulty simply telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

Megyn asked him about that on Tuesday night. He said the accusations had greatly upset his family, but investigations found zero evidence and he had been fully cleared.

If you swapped the engineering classes of the U of Illinois with the law school class of Harvard (such that the law students would be doing engineering, and the engineering students would be doing law), who do you think would do better.

I worked for over 40 years at a major corporation with engineers in every discipline; nuclear, mechanical, electrical, civil, computer, robotics -- you name it. At that same company I also worked with a fair number of corp lawyers over the years. They just had different jobs to do. I even knew one who had both an engineering and a law degree. He could do both very well.

I would never put one over the other in intelligence. I have know some of each who were brilliant, most competent, and a small number of others who I always wondered how they found their way to work in the morning.

O.J. Simpson murder case Dershowitz acted as an appellate adviser to O.J. Simpson’s defense team during the trial, and later wrote a book about it, Reasonable Doubts: The Criminal Justice System and the O.J. Simpson Case (1996). He wrote: “the Simpson case will not be remembered in the next century. It will not rank as one of the trials of the century. It will not rank with the Nuremberg trials, the Rosenberg trial, Sacco and Vanzetti. It is on par with Leopold and Loeb and the Lindbergh case, all involving celebrities. It is also not one of the most important cases of my own career. I would rank it somewhere in the middle in terms of interest and importance.”[28] The case has been described as the most publicized criminal trial in American history.[

Dershowitz is an avowed supporter of the Democratic Party. Dershowitz endorsed Hillary Rodham Clinton in United States presidential election, 2008, and later endorsing the eventual party nominee, Barack Obama

His word against hers. She is VERY credible and has no reason to lie. She doesn’t just throw out accusations wildly. She saw Bill Clinton on Pedo island but she said she never saw him engage in anything with a girl. But she was asked to do the Dersh many times. What is he going to say? Of course the married, highly respected attorney is not going to admit to screwing a teen many times. She knows how many times and in which states and airspace she was with Dershowitz.

“I would never put one over the other in intelligence.”

I understand, and I don’t judge people that way. Actually, my point is made by exactly what you just wrote: “I would never put one over the other in intelligence”. Extrapolating from your comments, there’s no substantive difference between the abilities, intellect etc. of an engineer from the U of Illinois vs an attorney from Harvard. My experience is consistent with this conclusion. That said, how many engineers from the University of Illinois are in the Senate, the House, or have held the Presidency? I’m just not impressed by peoples academic credentials, and feel strongly that way too much credit is given on this basis.

Great. A lawyer, a liar and a member of CONgre$$. All the more reason not to vote for him.

Great, then put him up for nomination to the SCOTUS

Seems a far better fit then trying to win an election, where he’s not gaining traction and needs the endless support from the GOPe and all the big money amnesty PACs.

Do it Teddy, pull out in exchange for sitting on the bench!

I would love to see that. I’m for Cruz, but will vote for Trump. Since it looks that way, Cruz on SCOTUS would be amazing.

Having seen this comment a bit (Cruz for SCOTUS) in what parallel universe would the Dems ever accept such a nomination? I would love to see Cruz on SCOTUS, don't get me wrong, but I would think they would use every trick in the book to prevent this. I suppose if we had a unified super-majority in the Senate, there is little they could do.

He is definitely driven - as Obama was groomed for the position, Cruz did everything right to set himself up for it - the question is, how much is the real Cruz and how much is the tactics.....really brilliant people can juggle such details.
