Self-service is much better than humans where there is a good probability they will screw up the order. The gas station chain Wawa uses kiosks for ordering subs and the like.
We’ve been using the Wawa kiosks for years whenever we visit relatives near Philly. It’s a great system right down to the extra mayo or mustard. They make super sandwiches, too!
First this is ordering, not making. The order could still come out wrong.
The only way it would not is if things are already made (not fresh, and harkens back to Automat), or you do it yourself with the fixins bar (more work for yourself, not enjoyable).
I really detest the increase in “self-serve” over the decades. We get to do work and pay for the privilege. What is nice about that?
