Maybe that is the idea, as it was in the original book: go to war with the US; lose; receive huge amounts of US aid to rebuild your war shattered country. Or even better have the US annex your country, and presto, you are all American citizens; you don’t even have to leave home to cross the border.

The left does not want this at all. The last thing they want is a reason to unify Americans against mexico in a major conflict. Having been humiliated by the left over the years following the 911 capitulation there is more anger just waiting to boil over. In an environment where people are no longer constrained by PC the response could be tremendous. It could trigger retribution not only against mexico but the Muslim infiltrators as well. The would not serve the cause of the left. They need to do what they can to get these fools to stand down before the wave builds and wipes them all off the map.
