Congrats. Not to diminish your boy’s accomplishments, but He isn’t a Marine until his Drill Instructor puts that Marine Corps emblem in his hand at the end of Recruit Training. On that day he will have earned the title Marine. On that day myself and my fellow Marines will welcome him into the brotherhood.

He made it to the top of the Reaper? Because, until he does, he’s not a Marine, he’s a recruit.

He became a US Marine 2 hours ago.
I’m sure you are very proud. But I must correct you. He will become a Marine upon graduation from boot camp. The title must be earned. But congrats and Semper Fi!
I’m sure he will be a good Marine!

Congratulations to your son.
My younger brother entered the Marines through NROTC, and spent his career in cryptography. He retired as a Lt. Col. He still lets everyone know he's a Marine.
During his tour in Vietnam, he had to stay "inside the wire," because of his crypto clearances. He said, to go outside the wire with those clearances you needed an armed helicopter escort, and who ever heard of an armed helicopter escort for a Major (his rank at the time).
Hope your son has a satisfying career.

Congratulations! When does he go to boot camp? Parris Island or San Diego?

I don’t remember any test called ASVAB when I enlisted in the Navy just out of high school (1961), but I do remember taking some tests. I don’t remember the scores either, but I was offered the opportunity to apply for an officer candidate program, attending college while serving, so I must have scored OK. I said no thanks; I hadn’t liked school that well.
Mistake.
