Bill the Son buys good quality clothes and then takes them to a Vietnamese tailor shop and gets them altered for a better fit. (I've suggested that he talk to them about a bulk deal on made-to-measure shirts, since he loves their work.) One reason I like this is that his grooming standards give me some confidence that he won't fall for a slatternly young woman.
Grandma always told me the clothes make the man.
I'm wearing a skirt and blouse and matching jewelry for a day that features driving my kids back and forth to the pool for swim team, plus a visit to Walmart. I think wearing tidy clothes shows respect for yourself and others and for order in the universe.

Good professional attire gives you a psychological edge. I think it actually makes you behave differently. Better posture, for example. It puts you in a better frame of mind to work, sell, be energetic, social, etc.
I’m with you. I would love to see society dress nicer in every venue. I really think it affects behavior in a positive way. Of course, we’re far gone in the other direction.

Sadly too many people today have no respect for others or themselves.

I think wearing tidy clothes shows respect for yourself and others and for order in the universe. I've never heard that expressed quite that way. Very simple yet profound.
