Christian Science is neither Christian nor science.

All the Christian Scientists I know are very good, caring, intelligent people. Some are high up in government and entertainment. One is an aspiring supermodel, deservedly so. Their theology has beauty to it, rather than worshiping due to suffering they focus on the miracles and deeds. But their practices are harmful.

There is no way Gd minds people trying to help other people. Gd also has created a world with bacteria who also have their own best interests at heart, and sometimes we need to fight them. Setting a bone or surgery are such valuable practices, how can one “not believe in” them? I agree that medicine isn’t a lord and master: the industry also is greedy and self serving, and alternatives should always be sought. But in my religion humans are junior partners with Gd with a job to help Him make this world a better place. Good doctors are doing so. You CAN pray for healing AND take a pain killer at the same time (Christian Scientists won’t pray if an aspirin was taken).

The idea that nothing matters except the spirit just doesn’t fit our earthly realm. It is a very phony religion, sorry. People punish the sick socially, as if it is their lack of prayer and study that caused an illness. I am very sour on the religion at this point.

And I get the author’s comparison. It kind of works. Libs imagining that there exists a utopia where no one differentiates between any race or orientation so that something brand new like gay marriage ALWAYS EXISTED and a 90 year old American should be shunned for having trouble with the concept.

They both peer out and see what they want to see, not what is.

To think or not to think is man's primary choice. Evasion is the act of blanking out, the willful suspension of one's consciousness, the refusal to think, because of the anti-effort mentality, or to avoid a bad feeling, or in order to escape the responsibility of judgment, on the unstated premise that a thing will not exist if only you refuse to identify it.
