He is going to suffer the Ted Cruz effect for the opposite reason. After what has been revealed, Bernie will be labeled a sell-out by his former supporters. Bernie should have called in sick. Now his career is in the tank.

I'm not so sure. One thing about the millenials, is that they don't care how the world is "supposed" to work. They grew up thinking that everyone should get to participate. If they think ol' Bernie was legitimately cheated out of his fair chance to play, they may riot.
He may come out of this as a hero, and a nominee.
