When a Ransom Is Not a Ransom
The Coach's Team ^ | Saturday, August 6, 2016 | Jim Emerson, staff writer

On January 17, 2016 the Obama administration secretly airlifted $400 million worth of Euros, Swiss francs and other foreign currencies to Iran around (or AT) the same time four American prisoners were released by the Islamic republic. On the surface it appears to be a ransom payment, but the Obama administration insists that was not the case. The timing was just a coincidence; the fact being that seven Iranians held by the United States were actually exchanged for the Americans.

Cover Story

Officials were quick to deny any payment for hostages, insisting the $400 million was a down payment on a $1.7 billion settlement to resolve a failed 1979 arms deal. Iran demanded the return of the $400 million which had been paid to the Pentagon by Iran, shortly before the fall of Iran's last monarch, Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.

The payment was made in cash because Iran has been cut off from global banks and there was no other way to get them the money. The Obama administration insists the payment did not constitute ransom and that there was no quid pro quo for the money. They were separate negotiations from the start. This claim from the Regime that insisted the Benghazi attacks were caused by a YouTude video!

Why $400 Million is Significant.

When the Shah was ousted in 1979, the $400 million was placed into a US-based trust fund which was frozen during the American Embassy Hostage crisis. Since 1981 Iran has been fighting for a return of the funds through international courts.

Lie Exposed

This week Former US Iranian Hostage, Pastor Saeed Abedni, told FOX Business Network’s Trish Regan that the “Iranian regime would not let his plane leave Tehran until the ransom plane arrived.”

As I understand it, one of the important details is this:

There is a US law which forbids the payment of US Currency for this sort of activity. I wish I had the phrasing, but I don’t. But the law refers to “US currency” and says you can’t make the payment.

As I understand it, the US government claims that it paid a legitimate debt to a foreign government. Nothing improper at all.

Also, as I understand it, the US government sent a pallet loaded with $400M worth of SWISS FRANCS in order to pay our debt to Iran.

Why did the US government avoiding payment in US dollars?

Lawyers are sleazy people.

There are so many questions about this.

Among them are:

1. The question of whether it was ransom should be addressed. Obama and his lackeys say it wasn’t, but let’s find the truth.

2. Why was this done secretly? Obama and Hillary and others say this is old news. I don’t remember this being reported months ago when this happened.

3. Why was this paid in cash?? If one country owes money to another country, aren’t these payments normally done by wire transfer nowadays???

4. Why the need for cash in various denominations from other countries, and not American money???

5. How much of this money ended up in the treasury of Iran as payment of this old debt, and how much of this untraceable cash was skimmed off by officials who met the plane at the airport??

6. And was the cash in various countries denominations done just so that the Iranian officials could literally pocket some of the money for themselves????

If we had any semblance of a fair and balanced media, these sorts of questions would be asked.

If we had a Republican president, I’m sure the media would dig into questions such as these.

Ransom is what you do when “diplomacy” doesn’t work and “diplomacy” NEVER works. Especially when it’s tried with godless, murdering barbarians.

Congress, had its leadership any courage, would re-write the law to change the language from US$ to ANY currency or barter. These creeps will find a way around any law, but we can make it more difficult for them.

The US has not paid ransom for hostages as doing so would just encourage the taking of more hostages... Bright move, Obama.

I laughed when the DC spin machine stated that the money would not be used by Iran for terrorism or the development of nuclear weapons. How the heck would that be enforced? Just lower the budget for infrastructure by $400M and use that money for terror and weapons. Then deposit the $400M into the infrastructure account. It is especially ridiculous that they claim this when the payment was in CASH!

The Sha paid us $400 million for arms. Then Islamic terrorists took over Iran and committed an act of war on the U S by attacking our embassy and taking Americans hostage. Only in a dumbshit Democrat’s mind do we owe the terrorists one freaking dime!

It stinks!

Throw them all in prison!

Good question.

Will our media, or Republicans, ask any questions about this transfer of funds to Iran???

And where did the $400 million originate? From the US Treasury?? So did our treasury wire money overseas somewhere, to then turn it into $400 million in various countries currencies??

With such a huge expenditure, would the Secretary of the Treasury have to sign off on this???

Geez louise. The more I think about it, more questions come up.

But I fear our media will not dig into this. Then they will go back to bashing Trump, and expressing mock outrage about something Trump said, and endlessly talk about what Trump said, and what others said about Trump. Rather than follow some serious news stories such as this money transfer.

But I do think they would dig into this story if a Republican president has initiated it.

Because of the Iranian hostage crisis, the 1.7 billion was subject to damages paid to the hostages, damages to the embassy, etc. .... nothing left for the Muslim heathens.
