Trying to be nice. But any person that reasonably looked into the situation would understand that it was more than lack of talent that kept him off of rosters. The circus that the media created around him caused plenty of teams to spurn him. Everyone was surprised they Philly did not keep (the media hyped his improved arm). The coach got fired during the year, because his backups did not perform when needed. It was a mistake.
From USA Today before the cut.
Tim Tebow left no doubt that he belongs on the Eagles’ roster
It wasnt a perfect performance by any means. He threw an interception in the fourth quarter as well, when he attempted to force a pass on a long fourth down. Tebow ended the night 11-for-17, passing for 189 yards, and two touchdowns.
When everything is added up and laid out, Tebow has performed well enough as Barkley has performed poorly enough to earn his place on the Eagles in 2015. Kelly has said he will make his final roster cuts Friday and it seems like the only scenario where Tebow isnt in Philadelphia this fall is if the coach decides to stick with two quarterbacks on his roster instead of three. But that seems like an improbability at this stage.
Its Tebow time in Philadelphia.
It was a combination. He has 3rd string talent, but every time the starter threw an incompletion the fans started chanting for Tebow. He wound up being the personification of QB controversy. Nobody I know was surprised Philly didn’t keep him, he still sucked. He was still throwing mostly incompletions, still couldn’t read defenses. That USA Today snippet shows the problem but the problem isn’t what you think. The problem is he developed this cult around that actually thinks going 11 of 17 against 4th string defenses is GOOD. It isn’t. He played like a 4th stringer against 4th stingers and got cut like happens to 4th stringers.
