Ted was overly sensitive about the supposed “attack” on his wife.
It was nothing but a re-Tweet of an unattractive screen shot of Heidi. It wasn’t personal.
Most every news outlet uses the same tactic in their articles about politicians. Find any video of anyone and one can freeze frame it to show what they want to show. (like the loops of Trump flailing his arms for less than 2 seconds and make it look like he spent that entire rally dissing a reporter who can’t even move his arm)
If Ted wants a future in politics, he’s gonna have to grow some thicker skin.

Maybe that wasnt an insult...It could possibly be just the truth... Like calling water wet.
Its not a persoanl insult if its the truth.
Or did he call him garbage.? Either one is fine.
Actually, the governor of Connecticut called Mike Pence incredibly stupid and a bigot first. So at most, he was spoken to in terms he freely uses against the Trump campaign.
Perhaps if he'd called him "intellectually challenged" or "less-than-abled" it would have been better.

When a wealthy person is audited, it usually means the did not donate enough money to the Democrat Party and liberal causes.

“I believe he called the governor of Connecticut stupid last week.”
Governor Malloy is disgracing himself. To call him stupid is being generous.

His tax records are also able to be used by competitors to trump his business tactics.

IRS illegally hassled Tea Party members. Why should public care about Obamao-IRS report on Trump’s returns.
IOW, “What difference does it make?” MSM?

Gov. Malloy? In his case I believe "stupid" is a clinically accurate description.

He's in New York State, which is particularly intrusive. More importantly, he plays at a level where constant audits are a part of life. It's easy to check on a rich guy who has a trust fund that he lives off of. Trump has stuff. Trump does stuff. The rules of owning, running and earning off of the actual stuff is complicated. Trump has an obligation to get the best deal he can tax-wise. The Feds and the State check all such players and often negotiate in the many grey areas. When your returns on your portfolio look like a stack of 1975 Manhattan phone books, it would be nothing for a media hack, talking head or Democrat to take something that sounds bad even though it is legal and ethical. It might take hours to explain it, and only to be misunderstood, starting new attacks. No deal.

It was a good answer. Either a yes or no would have given them ammunition. She took the bullets out of their guns.
As far as the media is concerned, any answer she/he gave would have been used against them.
