It doesn't matter whose name is on the Dem part of the ballot. That's not how the Electoral College system works. On November 8, you are not voting for a candidate, you are voting for a slate of electors, who will be casting the REAL vote for President on December 19.
If Hillary steps down, voters will be told to still pull the lever for Hillary, but her electors will be pledged to whoever the DNC picks to replace her.

Post 11 - thank you for the clarification. I personally can foresee Michelle Obama in the VP slot. The Democratic base is shellshocked at this point and will accept whatever their party leadership recommends. Tim Kaine/Michelle Obama ticket. They can’t bypass Kaine for the top slot or it suggests he’s a substandard choice for VP in the first place.
