I wouldn't have guessed that about Miss Cartwright. I had understood Mr. Harris of being gracious, and happy to accept the responsibilities that come with being famous, even as a character actor or one who would be typecast. He also was a good actor who made the most of some crazy script-writing. It is a little too bad that he had to devolve into a pathetic coward. The sinister Dr. Smith of Season 1 was bit more intriguing, but then they eventually would have had to kill him. Don was up for it.
