The GOP gift wrapped this for the kenyan. Didn’t fight it at all. Don’t put this all on Obama.

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN)

https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/what-icann-does-22jun12-en.pdf

Figuring out who handles what in the Internet ecosystem can be tricky. Some people think that ICANN is the organization that “runs the Internet,” but the fact is that ICANN plays a high-level, important but limited role in how the Internet is organized.

Here’s how it works. To reach another person on the Internet you have to give your computer a destination – usually entered as a name or number. That destination has to be unique so computers know where to find each other. ICANN coordinates these unique identifiers across the world. Without that coordination we wouldn’t have one global Internet.

Humans prefer to find desired web addresses and email addresses by name (such as “icann.org.”) But computers know each other by numbers, or Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. ICANN helps coordinate the Domain Name System (DNS), often referred to as “the phone!book of the Internet” because it matches domain names with appropriate IP address numbers. ICANN also operates part of the DNS, and manages IP addresses and other protocol numbers.

********************************************************

My comment: I note that ICANN has until this point been a friend to us the users of the internet. But all that can be changed as the group put in control of the above are organized around a ‘global’ entity that is unelected and unresponsive to the needs and habits of the users.

In sum, this is Obama taking internet control away from Americans and all that that entails.

It really is a shame that our leadership in this country are such gutless wonders.

The elites squander and degrade the things we’ve built that make us exceptional, then wag their fingers and lecture us about how we shouldn’t think of ourselves as exceptional.

A few spoke up but only a few.

The internet has been too powerful a light to shine on the political cockroaches.

McConnell could have attached a rider to the 9-11 bill to bar the ICANN handoff but he likely didn’t want to risk a government shutdown and be blamed for it.

I predict we won’t see too much change for a year or two giving time for the international political cliques to figure out how to use the power that Obama and Congress have given them.

There are internet alternatives that presently exist.

There may also be a means to bypass ICANN with setting up other servers to perform the same functions in an end-around those who would abuse their control.

“On his way out of the door Barack Obama will have wholly ceded over control of the Internet to UNIDO, (United Nations Industrial Development Organization).”

No, on his way out of the door the Republican traitors ALLOWED Obama to cede control of the Internet.

I don’t listen to Limbaugh much anymore, but has he hit this thing? Hannity? Levin? Anyone?

Guess we'll see how long freedom lasts on the Internet.I'm sure they will try to censor it as soon as these Muslims can(57 Muslim countries).

I said Trump should team up with Cruz after he endorsed him , maybe Cruz could have gotten Trump to mention this in the debate and stopped it.

I'm a Trump supporter but we needed Cruz for this(Cruz has been opposing this for 2 years) and Rubio for Florida as it will all come down to Florida. I got attacked here by other fellow Trump supporters not all some for mentioning a Trump Cruz rubio alliance. Now it will be harder to elect Trump with a censored Internet. but if Trump wins I know he can get the Internet back

Pass a bill to stop it. They did it before.

Simple. Defunded the ICANN transition money in the spending bill. Then let the kenyan veto and shut down the government over an internet give away if he wanted to.

All we needed to do was kept the status quo here and the feckless GOP couldn’t even do that. The fact is it was not a priority for them because their big donors don’t care.

The Dems/globalists are playing a long game here. Break the current system. Then later they will come back and finish us off.

Why would this be different from any other thing Obama wants? The Republicans rolled over for him every time.

What the GOP really wanted they got: an SEC loophole for corporate donors to make political donations in secret. The GOP fights for K Street. Not us.

This internet give away was a uniparty op. No need to single out Soros and the kenyan.
