I haven't read much about this, but my general impression was she was the defense attorney, the prosecutor did a crappy job, the evidence handling was a disaster, and the perp walked. Years later, she talked about the polygraph the guy passed and laughed about it because she couldn't believe the results.

I don't know what evidence she allegedly suppressed, and I don't know what she did to besmirch the 12 year old victim. Was any of it outside the normal standards of evidence at the time? (I know many rules protecting accusers are fairly recent.)

Everything I heard sounds like she did what a lawyer is supposed to do, and I really have more of a problem with the other rapist she still defends. If that's not the case, please enlighten me.

I think HRC accused the child of seeking out or being attracted to older men - I forget the specific wording.

I suggest you read the Daily Mail article here, since it has a lot of details about the whole matter, including affidavits Clinton filed in the case.

Some of what Hillary Clinton did is what other aggressive defense attorneys might have done. But they don't stand up in front of the country and say that they have devoted their entire life to helping children, as Hillary Clinton did tonight. Hillary Clinton went farther than she had to in the case, apparently attacking the victim in many ways, some of which would not be tolerated in courts today.

Hillary Clinton's impact on Ms. Shelton is relevant to her character and truthfulness. Like many other topics Hillary has her public position "I'm all for the children.." and her private position "I couldn't care less about that girl, how can I make myself look good by getting her rapist off the hook."

Hillary has repeated that pattern in her attacks on other women who were the victims of her husband.

She was not a public defender. She chose to take this case. She then in the trial accused the girl of desiring the perps affection when the evidence did not support that. She is also accused of tampering with the evidence. But the worst is she is on tape laughing about the whole thing.

from that daily mail article free and freezing posted
“During the case, Clinton accused the 12-year-old of ‘seek[ing] out older men’ and ‘engag[ing] in fantasizing’ in court affidavits, and later laughed while discussing aspects of the case in a recently-unearthed audiotape from the 1980s.”
