From what I remember of my school days, most of my socializing was getting together with friends outside of anything to do with school. Hanging out together, nothing planned.

Why not? Their tax dollars pay for all those things too. Parents should be able to pick and chose if they want to. They are already paying for all of it. There are a lot of school associated activates, like band, that are hard to replicate at home. Having a government employee teach your kid something like how to play a trombone, is not the same as having them teach history and sex-ed.

That was the thread where I met my wife. We both posted about how over rated socialization is.

How ironic.

Yup. And when I was homeschooled I did the same thing with friends from around the neighborhood.

Eric Forman's basement.

don’t even think accredited home schoolers should be allowed to go. School dances are for the students of that school. why would a outside student be allowed?

Did you mean you met the Missus in a FR thread or that you met her at a homeschool function? It’s Wednesday, it’s too much for me too figure out, heh.

“Eric Forman’s basement.”

Yup, a lot of times in the basement, watching TV or just wandering around. Great times. Not much weed, tho. Booze now & then, if we could figure out how to get some.

Because it is permitted to bring a date even if he or she does not go to that school.

If they want to make it a "school only" function that is one thing but this is, as usual, outright public school bigotry.

ya I kinda thought that a bit. I remember my daughters experience where she wanted a guy from a different school to go with her and the school allowed it with his School ID. It could be bigotry if you will but in all honestly its like... You don’t wanna be taught here? well then you don’t get to enjoy our offerings. I think that’s fair.

But your parents still get the bill.

Still "fair"?

After all the students from other public and private schools made the choice not to be "taught there". Yet they are acceptable and home school students are not.

Sorry, but in the America I learned about you are not allowed to make rules that target one group of people for no other reason then you are a bigot. Either they make a rule that no one but students of that school can attend the dance or they allow their students to bring dates that fit the age criteria.

Targeted rules not allowed, so says the Constitution.

(That would be the document they don't teach in the public school.)

You have not offended me. The school offends me. Rules that apply equally to everyone are okay.

If they want to have a dance and only allow students from that school to attend that is fine.

If you want to only allow students from public schools to attend that is fine.

It is once you go outside those lines that things get dicey.

If the state required for home schools to be certified they would be on safe legal ground. But they don't.

They have essentially targeted a group and said, "we don't want our students to date those kind of people".

Not cool.

Especially for a school that I am forced to pay for.

ummmm shouldn't that read 'we don't want our students to dance with those kind of people'??

sounds to me like you've been slightly traumatized by past "School Bigotry". id just tell my kid to miss out on the dance but have fun at the parties afterwards...

everything in this day and age is a Give and Take. you ought to come to terms with it. you'll sleep better.

No, they did not say they could not dance, they said they could not bring that kind of person as a date.

No trauma here and I sleep just fine.

I do find it interesting that you think bigotry is just fine as long as the government school is doing it.

Let go of your public school worship. You will quickly become much less conflicted as an American.

Yes, but if she tells them that she “identifies as a student from an accredited school”, shouldn’t that be enough?/s

It is obviously discrimination intended to harm these children. Ironically, what they are too blind to see, is that attending their little dances would be the potentially harmful act.

The day public schools are outlawed as the Child Abuse Institutions that they are, will be a glorious day.

lmao... no... I am bigoted over the untamed black culture who hate our way of life.

I am bigoted over the untamed muslim culture who hate our way of life.

I am bigoted over the homo culture who hate our way of life.

I could give a rats ass about a school not letting a homeschooler go to their dance...

Hows that??
