They never went away. They just never had another candidate to vote for. The GOPe for the past 20 years could not give a flip about them and never asked for their votes.
So they just DIDN'T VOTE.
Sarah Palin could have brought them to the polls in 2008 but she was squashed by the McCain team.
A fried of ours is a life long Democrat who hasn't voted in a while because he could not stand who the democrats put up and the republicans didn't seem to care if he voted for them or not. He is voting DJT today.
Nephew who is part of the classic democrat demographic, young minority male in trade is voting DJT because, "You can't trust Hillary, they are taking all my money in taxes and I can't afford the Obamacare premiums for my wife and two kids."

I think Trump will win this election with people that have refused to participate since 1988. Perhaps they voted for Bush 41, only to be screwed after he reneged on his "no new taxes pledge".
Since then, there's been no reason for a lot of Republicans and conservative Democrats to vote. Bush 43 was a bit squishy, and McCain and Romney were absolute disasters.
I just hope it's enough to counter the fraud. As an editorial yesterday predicted: Trump by 10, reduced to Trump by 2 by the fraud.
