I am convinced that the attitudinal change of being armed is more important than the actual use. Attitude is with you 24/7. Actual defensive uses occur very infrequently.
The founders and many classical writers believed this as well. Bearing arms inculcates responsibility, individual toughness, independence, and foresight.
Completely agree.
And, it’s a learned attitude. From first-time carrying paranoias and discomfort slowly evolving into the ease and abilities. It’s something that takes time and work to develop, and differs for everyone. But the attitude becomes the same.
And they can’t stand it.
