It’s funny how my attitude toward today’s Millennial hipsters is exactly the same as how I felt about hippies back during the 1960s and early 70s.

Mincing no words, I hated them and wanted to see them subjected to severe punishment just for existing.

I’ll never forget the summer between my 5th and 6th grades. Something very strange must have happened, because a fair share of my formerly normal classmates came back to school as junior pseudo-hippies. Why their parents allowed them to act out like this, I can only wonder.

I do know that by the time our class graduated high school in the spring of 1975, folks were starting to clean up their acts.

At 59, I am what I believe has been termed a “trailing-edge Baby Boomer.” According to some sources, my sub-generation’s values aren’t quite the same as those who were teens during the late 1960s.

One article I read several years ago stated that it was the younger boomers who rejected counterculture values and became the “Reagan Youth.”

Well, I’m not sure you can prove this. But from a common sense perspective, I agree.

Looking back on my memories of the late 60s, when I was 11, 12, 13 — all I saw was a lot of people a little older than me making fools of themselves and causing immense grief to their parents. Now, my parents and I had our ups and downs, but I never would have adopted an entire lifestyle calculated to spite them.

So, nothing has really changed 50 years on. Youth culture is basically nothing but a lot of narcissistic playacting.

Still, if the past is any guide, most of the rising generation will muddle through — although this generation looks uniquely unprepared for the trials of daily living we all must face.

“... that their (sic) are actual corporate consultants who train corporations about how to work around their fragility. (And that’s an actual true fact.)”

This is absolutely true. Working in corporate America, I have sat through these presentations.

“The Human Resources person (and older woman) then expressed her desire, if I remember right, to slap Millennials around until they stopped being crybabies.”

I really think we should adopt this as a national tactic. Maybe we can designate a national holiday. “Don’t forget, November 19th is ‘Slap a Millenial Day’”!

‘“They don’t even know to turn cups upside down to drain,” a housewife once told me in wonder.’

... and they don’t know that because some coddling parents, probably from that housewife’s generation, didn’t bother to make their snowflakes do any chores.

Oompa loompa doompety do,
I’ve got another puzzle for you,
Oompa loompa doompety dee,
If you are wise you’ll listen to me,
Who do you blame when your kid is a brat,
Pampered and spoiled like a siamese cat,
Blaming the kids is a lie and a shame,
You know exactly who is to blame,

The mother and the father.

The biggest problem with Millenials is that the liberals have made it impossible for them to starve to death in the streets.

Oh, sure, snowflakes have existed in all generations... but the bloated welfare state has allowed the existence of people who are too stupid to take a Starbucks order correctly.

If Trump and the good parts of the GOP can manage to gut the welfare state entirely, some of the Millenials will learn that you are only worth what you can offer to others; you are NOT inherently valuable. Most of them will be too stupid to understand such a simple maxim, and the stupid ones NEED to die off if we want any semblance of social order to exist.

No, more like, their father never married their mother, and mother’s career came first. They raised themselves as best they could.

If you dry the cup immediately after you wash it, you don’t have to “drain” it. If you don’t do it immediately, you leave it sitting in the sink (upright or inverted) and never think of it again.

If we had a talking parrot, it would bellow (among other invective), “WASH! DRY! RINSE! PUTAWAY! NOW!”

We seriously need to have boot camp for young men between their junior and senior yr in high school. I know it would have done me some good.

There are several reasons for this:
* for liberals, what feels good is good and what feels bad is bad, so screaming and crying is considered to make you the more moral person in the argument - in short, whoever freaks out first wins
* liberals give the greatest moral weight to those who are offended/upset, and you get that by throwing the biggest dramatic act
* the most outraged/upset person gets the reflexive sympathy of liberals in the room, so you MUST be melodramatic to gain social support - and in numbers, they are more likely to win an confrontation
* by using visible expressions of emotion as a measure of sincerity and morality, liberals have destroyed the ability to have a rational discussion, so too many young people’s bargaining pattern is “I don’t like it/don’t want to ... name calling ... hysterics”
* the catering to the tantrum leads to deliberate use of them to force issues/submission of others even when the person is not actually annoyed
