Twitter also unfollows your followers randomly. one of my followers has refollowed me like 5 times. and I talk to him on hangouts. I notice sometimes I have to refollow people I have been following, but it's hard to catch unless someone else retweets then or something
Yeah, now I realize this is EXACTLY what they have been doing to me. Just a few weeks before the election my Twitter followers exploded from around 200 to over 650. Since then, despite at least 3 to 7 new followers per day, my total number of followers has still hovered around 650 (655 right now) when I should have close to 1000 followers. I am now sure that Twitter is unfollowing my followers.

Twitter is a mostly useless platform. I mute app. 9 out of 10 followers, as they tweet way too much and add little substance. Also their advertising is terrible; it’s repetitive and has zero to do with my taste.
I’ve had vanishing followers, hard for me to detect, I have over 7,500.
None of mine are “un-filtered” I look at each one of them and their tweets before I follow them.
When I post stuff that freak out the Left or the Islamist, I have a bunch of new followers who have low tweet, and bogus following & followers. I block them.
I block all who try to sell me followers and I block porn followers. And I have a huge list of Trolls that I have blocked. And I block the MGWV nonsense followers. (I have a huge list of blocked accounts)
I believe that more than 50% of the users on twitter are Bots or troll accounts.
In spite of that, I intend to keep using Twitter. There is a lot of breaking news that starts there.
I have a low following but I try to vet them as best as I can before I follow them back. Also have under 1K tweets but they are mostly my memes.

I’ve muted a few followers that just slam re-tweets of other accounts that fill up the stream so I miss tweets from other people I’m following. I rather see original tweets than constant streams of retweets...retweeting is fine, I do it a little, but machine-gunning 20 at a time is just too much - they get the ‘mute’
If someone follows me and I see they are chronic re-tweeters only - I don’t follow back.
From time to time I have seen evidence of them messing with my stats. Not sure how it is done but seems like someone just throttles it. I gaining followers and making same number of tweets and getting similar RT’s and my impressions and mentions just die.
I usually run between 150-200,000 impressions a month. I have hit as high as 475,000 in a month. It fluctuates less now than it did a few years ago.
