I think alancarp’s post #9 is correct. This does not appear to be a ruling. Just an opinion by a dissenting justice.
In a normal legal space, that legal opinion would not mean nothing, either: learned/respected opinions should carry some weight, whether made in the context of court proceedings or otherwise.
That’s not the world liberals reside in, of course, and I for one am getting tired of our side being the only one to obey the rules of law, civilization, and engagement.
Though this *still* operates under Law, I like to see the DoJ issue an opinion to the President that he can ignore this Hawaiian Federal Court and then the President would be free to enact his order.
