A guy I work with has two children by the woman he lives with. They won’t get married because she gets welfare for the children and the taxpayer paid for birthing them. They think this is OK.

That's one of the ways people get ahead these days. That family has a lot higher disposable income than one that is legally married. I'm not saying it's right or wrong (yeah, I know it's wrong), but if you tax it you'll get less of it. If you subsidize it you'll get more of it. It's common sense and everyone knew it back in the '60s when the Great Society programs started - but we did it anyway.

And we all know why. Until we repeal the 19th Amendment we will be legislating with our hearts first and our brains second (if at all.) Of course we aren't going to take the vote away from women so eventually in some X number of generations we will all be wards of the nanny state. Safe and sound and sucking on that government teat.
