Alabama Senate votes to allow church to form police dept. I have seen this time and time again. A church feels they are under attack by outside forces and they decide to use armed guards to protect the Pastors and parishioners. The first time I ran across this was in the early “80”s when I asked if my wife and child could attend my sister-in-laws church. Why would they have to “lobby” out in the public arena in the first place? Hire who you want and pay them what you want. Do you have to have permission to hire security? There are neighborhoods with people that look like something from black ops in Iraq. If a megachurch has a few buck left over from new carpet, why not?
I’m reasonably certain that there are at least five people carrying concealed at the Mass I go to.
The same reason Bloomberg (and all the rich “gun safety” hypocrites) have a private militia for personal protection ... he isn’t going to wait minutes (or several donuts) when seconds count!

Back in the 1780s and ‘90s, my ancestors in what is now West Virginia, carried their guns to church and placed them in the back in case of an Indian attack (according to written documents from that time period). How is this any different?

Universities can have their own police force. Hospitals can have their own police force. Why can’t churches have their own police force?
