A bunch of unrelated things of thing that show:
1. Emergency Services periodically run exercises to test the ability to respond to various scenarios.
2. Power outages occur in large cities.
3. The US Navy occasionally has exercises with our allies, particularly ones near North Korea.
Our city has two active shooter drills, a air show disaster drill, and a baby abduction in the next two weeks.
They have been planned for about eight months.
Drills happen this time of year because the weather is nice and people are not on vacation.
