“Accidental discharge”?
Don’t you mean NEGLIGENT DISCHARGE?
Sorry, missed your reply. You’re correct, of course. Stalin had his first confiscation program (as opposed to simple policy) in 1929; another in 1944, before the war was over but when it was pretty obvious it would be. Wouldn’t do to let those war-surplus guns to remain in civilian hands...
Try to take my guns, and I will kill you, at the time and place of MY choosing.
The thing is, I have precious little to live for. So it’s a very easy choice for me.
Turn off the food.
Are you trying to say we are to tired to run away, to old to take a beating, so we will just kill you?
They will leave it at the State level of enforcement with the FBI behind as reinforcement.
They practice it all the time in South America with the FBI, ATF and DEA supporting local police.
It is a long game to shield Obama or Hillary from gun confiscating intents. The feds and communists have been playing it. The same with North Korea, a de facto Sino-Soviet colony enforcing locally Marxism from a nationalist claim point of view.
Turned off the Good?
Join me for a Cheeseburger...
You’ll feel better.
GOOD FOOD...
PISSIN SPELLCHECK.
I’ve been tinkering with designs for an electromagnetic gun. If I can get it to work, no powders needed :)
There will be rumors and leaks that will be denied. A few people will prepare, very few. The military will probably be used and local law enforcement for their SWATs.
A fictional movie with a non-existent premise (absolute foreknowledge of a crime and its perpetrator before the fact).
Never take your [see incomplete list below] from the movies.

How many?
You’re talking a million owners targeted in one day.
Have you 10 million gun-toting agents ready to risk their lives?
Let me know what you come up with for a power supply, most rail guns need something on the order of a nuclear reactor to get them up to speed.
Assuming Im not first on the list then it shouldnt be too hard to find my gun on that day. It would be the thing in my hands lobbing hot nuggets at the uniforms.
It will be a co-ordinated massive assault on thousands, perhaps a million high profile gun owners at one time.
Lets take the posited middle ground of 100,000 at one time. You need at least 5 personnel for each raid. That is half a million law enforcement types, all coordinated at one time, with *none* of the people in the know leaking the information to the resistance in advance.
I posit it cannot be done. Probably half of federal law enforcement are at least nominally pro Second Amendment. Probably 5% are enthusiastically pro Second Amendment. Likely 1% take their oaths seriously.
The raids would be telegraphed and the intelligence would go out quickly.
Simply logistically not possible as put forward.
Too many moving parts, too many failure points.
For it to work, you need, at miminum, federal legislation nullifying the Second Amendment.
That would be a huge signal in itself. The resistance against that already dwarfs the resistance against actual confiscation.
So, how do you get there. You have to create a tyranny first.
To do that, you need government control of the Internet.
Lots of pre-event signals that make everyone more nervous and committed to resistance.
We have an actual example: New Orleans, hurricane Katrina.
They tried a full on push for total confiscation, when most residents were either gone or disoriented, and communications was disrupted.
There were a few tense standoffs.
There was embarrassing assaults on elderly.
The most heavily armed were left alone.
Most importantly, there was a behind-the-scenes revolt BY LAW ENFORCEMENT which brought the confiscation to a halt.
We have another example: Waco.
Surprise highly-coordinated raid with maximum talent & equipment.
4 agents killed in minutes (seconds?).
Ending standoff lasted weeks, ending in dozens killed.
You’re expecting hundreds of thousands of raids in a matter of hours, resources stretched thin, yet expect nearly no gov’t casualties and no retaliation (OKC bombing was retaliation for Waco, 183 dead).
We have an actual example: New Orleans, hurricane Katrina.
They tried a full on push for total confiscation, when most residents were either gone or disoriented, and communications was disrupted.
And the end result was a significant number of state laws specifically banning the confiscation of firearms during declared emergencies.
I think it was taken off the FEMA plans as well, but cannot cite a source.
The tyranny would have to control the flow of information at a North Korea level for this to have a chance of working.
Most rail guns are also shooting something fairly heavy. I’m thinking something light, about the size of a pellet gun pellet. I was also planning on using ferrous material for the ammo, so it wouldn’t need a separate “rail”.
But, right now it’s just a sketch on a napkin. (Ok, several sketches on several napkins.) My current living situation doesn’t allow for building prototype weaponry. I’m working on changing that.
Try taking mine away from me...
