Steel toe does not make it Bullet Proof
Am Shooting Journal ^ | 6/2/2017 | J Hofer

Posted on 06/02/2017 5:17:03 AM PDT by w1n1

Steel toe vs .45 results in a painful experience. Originally this story was talked about on a gun forum. Here's the excerpt from the thread: "This guy and his co workers were discussing whether a steel toe boot would withstand a round from a .45, so what do do you think would be the best way to test this theory? YUP, you guessed it."

You'd think this person would try this out without having to wear the boot.

It doesn't take a smart person to guess it would be a bad idea to shoot your steel-toed boot, hoping it'll stop a .45 caliber bullet. Read the rest of the steel toe story here.

It’s safer than looking down the barrel to see if the bullet’s coming, though.

Do not use any part of your body to test safety equipment.
In case it fails or in case you misjudged what it can do.
(Alcohol frequently contributes to such misjudgments.)

A more conclusive test for this guy would have been his hardhat.

Dumb, just plain dumb. I wouldn’t try it with a pellet gun, let alone a 45.

one more reason to never give a gun to a democrat. By the way, the round is above the steel and went into the leather.

Going by the photo, it doesn’t look like the round hit the steel toed part. Close but no cigar.
