“As for you, do not pray for this people, . . for I do not hear you. Do you not see what they are doing in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? The children gather wood, the fathers kindle fire, and the women knead dough, to make cakes for the queen of heaven; and they pour out drink offerings to other gods, to provoke me to anger. Is it I whom they provoke? says the Lord. Is it not themselves, to their own confusion? . . . Behold, my anger and my wrath will be poured out on this place, upon man and beast, upon the trees of the field and the fruit of the ground; it will burn and not be quenched” [Jeremiah 7: 1-20)
VERY important declaration about justification. Based on going into the promised land and annihilating the natives for practicing child sacrifice. That same standard of invasion and conquest was also to be kept by the Israelites. They failed and they were invaded and conquered.
That standard has not changed because it is God’s standard for ALL nations. Child sacrifice is a line that can never be crossed and is not forgiven. Native Americans practiced human sacrifice, too. America has fallen that way. All but 5 or 6 nations have crossed the line. It is why the Day of the LORD is a day of wrath.
There can be a reprieve with national repentence (changing of laws in our case) but only one reprieve is given.
Surely at the command (mouth) of the LORD it came upon Judah, to remove them from His sight because of the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he had done, and also for the innocent blood which he shed, for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; AND THE LORD WOULD NOT FORGIVE.
