Local workers, you say? Oh, the horror!
bttt
Maybe there are high school kids that could work at those jobs. Maybe it is time to reduce the child labor restrictions.
For example, I started working in the hay fields when I was twelve. And, I am still alive and well. Plus, I had my own money.
The real news is that it seems the entire hospitality industry in Bar Harbor, Maine runs on and is dependent upon foreign labor and does not hire Americans.
The H2B visa program to get legal foreign labor is flooded because Trump is cracking down on illegals. I bet if you check a few years ago, the employees would be illegal aliens and not H2B visa holders.
Sad that they were forced to hire Locals, good of course but should have been a natural to look for Citizens.
Hmmm...I vacation every August in Tenant’s Harbor and all the workers are local! High school, college kids, older people, etc.
Going up next week and cannot wait.
Poor babies - they have to hire Americans.....

Now let’s start FINING those criminals who have been BREAKING LAWS !
Get someone’s attention.
If they are willing to ship people in from other countries, there are a ton of college students in nearby states who would welcome the work. Maybe part of their “creative” hiring tactics could include letting them know that this is a thing.
Vacationing in Boothbay Haaaaabah this past week. The seasonal work force appears to be mostly locals except for one parking lot attendant from Serbia.
Must go. Our lobstah cal-in order at Robinson’s Wharf is waiting for pickup. Homemade haddock chowda on the side.
Wicked good dinner!
Alas, back to the hot and humid Georgia coast tomorrow. There will be no seeing my breath in the air come Sunday morning.....
“if they are unable to find suitable employees domestically”
seems they were not even trying before, just hiring foreigners. now they actually have to do their job and try advertising to locals not just advertising out of country.
Pay decent wages and treat them with respect and you will have employees.
