Rutt’s Hut. Great hot dogs. If you are from the Newark area you must remember the original Jimmy Buffs. But they are not the same since the gubmint told them they had to change the cooking oil at least once a year.

I’ve eaten my share of hot dogs. Hot Dog Johnny’s in Buttzville NJ made some great dogs. They deep fried theirs. The other one I have eaten since I could chew was Nathans. For me it as simplicity; 2 dogs, with mustard and sauerkraut. You bit into it and there was a snap sound.

I spent most of my youth at Brighton Beach and I loved to take that walk on the boardwalk with my dad and go to Nathans for dogs, fries and a coke. Sometimes we would get clams on the half shell and put away dozens. Every time I fly into Newark, once I have my rental car, it’s off to Coney Island.
