Looks to me like White Democrats who were never slave owners are fighting White Republicans who were never Nazis over a Confederate statue erected by White Democrats, because democrats can’t stand their own history any more and somehow it’s Trump’s fault?
Republicans have historical memories: of Elizabeth Margaret Chandler, Lucretia Mott, Sarah and Angelina Grimke, Abraham Lincoln, and MLK. We also have the underground railroad and abolitionists.
Democrats have historical memories too: of Robert Byrd (KKK- head of US Senate), Robert E. Lee, Bull Conner, George Wallace, the KKK, and the White Citizens Councils.

And Republicans WERE the people who freed the slaves, but they're not alive today either...
