This is why I think some kind of escape had been planned, but something went wrong.

He doesn't seem to have been the sort to have a 'death wish' or to be desperate or resigned - for a long time, he seemed to have been perfectly satisfied to live what the average, healthy person would think a paltry emotional life; but was an ornery, mean (in the stingy, small-minded sense) self-important guy.

There was something going on with his life and connections that we've yet to learn about; I could be wrong, but don't think it was just insanity, or some kind of 'break'.

It is the messaging Mark Steyn talked about. This guy did everything to scrub about himself in his intention except thst one implicit message about guns. Many antigunners on facebook have mentioned fantasies of using guns to kill NRA people to make a point.

Since 2006, Paddock had been staying at Wynn hotels frequently. He seemed normal in every way. "The most vanilla profile one could possibly imagine." The only oddity Wynn's staff observed was that he and his girlfriend never imbibed.

Yet there are other reports of Paddock drinking heavily and of him smelling of alcohol.

Something I saw but put it on the my mind’s back shelf. He has an accident at one of the casinos, haven’t heard anything more about it’s resolution or if it caused any permanent injury.

He wasn’t on any painkillers, just valium.

He may have lost that case although it was caught on camera.

Maybe he held a grudge against the casinos and Las Vegas in general because he (in his mind) thought “dark forces” in the political system worked against him in his “iron clad” case
so he he decides to get even?

He lost that case, and someone posted yesterday that he still owed court fees on it - which seemed odd to me, since the case appears to have been about four years ago.

I don’t know; there’s never any telling what really goes on in others’ minds, especially deranged ones. It’s all very strange, and as others have said we may never know the whole story.
