I think you meant Mini 14, they use the same round as an AR-15.
M14 is chambered for 7.62x51 and is considerably more effective.
A Mini 30 chambered for 7.62x39 throws a round twice as large as an AR-15 and was not included in the Clinton ban because it isn’t as scary looking.
