Residents of Judea, Samaria and all over Israel celebrated the building and erection of new housing units in Amichai this month. Amichai is the newest community in Samaria, located just east of the community of Shiloh. The completion of the community of Amichai will mark the first government-sanctioned Israeli community to be built in the Judean and Samarian regions of Israel in 25 years.

About one year ago, the residents of Amona, a community located in the Binyamin region of Samaria were evicted from their homes. The government subsequently recognized and sponsored the building of Amichai to house the displaced Amona residents.

According to Arutz Sheva, the residents are expected to enter the houses in about three weeks, coinciding with the beginning of construction on the permanent homes which will be built in Amichai.

The Binyamin Regional Council said in a statement: “We are privileged in this auspicious time to see the first houses being built on the ground in the new community of Amichai. After the endless labor of more than a year, a 48-hour operation has begun for constructing 36 structures in Amichai.”

“For the first time since the establishment of the movement for the expansion of Judea and Samaria, a community has been officially established at the initiative of the State and by the Council. After a long struggle by the residents of Amona and the tremendous efforts of the head of the Benjamin Regional Council and its employees, we are privileged to see the establishment of a new community in Judea and Samaria.”

Last year, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised the residents of Judea and Samaria that, “there will not be [another] uprooting of any community in Israel.” In response to the government’s authorization for the building of the new community of Amichai, last year, Netanyahu said, “Today the work that I had promised began, [the work] to establish a new community for the [former] residents of Amona. After decades, I have the merit of being the Prime Minister who will build a new community in Judea and Samaria. There was not and will not be a [Israeli] government more pro-Judea and Samaria than ours.”
