It pains me to say it, but I’ve come to believe that this great experiment in republican democracy has passed its prime and begun a long, slow descent. Was it Edmund Burke who said “there’s a deal of ruin in a nation”? In any case, because we’re still an unimaginably wealthy people, the descent will be slow and stretch over many generations. The notion of some sort of civil war is thrilling, but I fear we’ve become too supine for that. Still, if there is to be some sort of armed conflict, I pray it comes in my lifetime! My ancestors were active in the Revolution, and I’d jump at the chance to play some role in a Second Revolution. In the meantime I’ll sit back and watch the show.

not sure its stoppable....

but what is stoppable is our own financial demise...

avoid taxes legally..

avoid giving uncle sam anymore of your hard earned money then you can....

because we have competing givemedats...the ones receiving all the welfare/free food/free housing/ etc AND the ones in govt receiving all those huge obscene salaries/bennies/pensions...its almost impossible to go after both groups....
