Usually this is done to intimidate because the ordinary mode of operation when spying on someone is to not let them know you are spying on them. And the ones who tipped their hand would probably not be careless enough to reveal such details unintentionally.
On the flip side, sometimes this tactic is used to spot when being surveilled or to identify a leaker. For example, if a document contains a formatting error or a forced word wrap at the end of a line, it is possible to trace where copies come from. Hidden code can be imbedded in videos and audio recordings.

That’s how his senate career was fast-tracked. He (or someone) had his opponent’s sealed divorce records exposed. Of course, using the office of president to spy on a citizen is a much more serious matter.

If that was truly there by accident, it could certainly shake things up. But there is a real question as to how much truth the public is willing to accept, even on the conservative side.

1. We can be assured Zullo has had that smudge for years.
2. We can bet that Zullo is no dummy.
The two items above lead us to believe the ‘smudge’ was an accident, just part of the sloppiness with which much of the rest of the document forgery was carried out.
What the liar media leads their viewers, which many mistakenly refer to as ‘the public’, to believe is immaterial if Zullo has tracked down via the fingerprint the person behind the forgery, possibly detaining the person or at least done a full confirmation of the fingerprint and the person and the context of both in the forgery, together with a full investigatory background check on that person. If item 2. above is true, Zullo has done this and is certain that the facts are known.
Furthermore, Zullo said in the radio interview that the revealing of the fingerprint is but a small part of what is yet to be revealed.
My inference is the actors behind the birth certificate, including Fuddy’s disappearance or murder or coverup, call it what one will, are in a state of panic, a panic so intense they are making mistakes left and right in an attempt to know what Zullo knows and how he knows it, so they can prepare a defense or false narrative such as the spy was not a spy but rather an informant placed to protect Trump and his people from the evil Russians.
Agree that letting slip facts of monitoring Zullo to Zullo was a form of intimidation.
