One of the striking things about Canada and the UK that I noticed during travels in between the 1970’s and 1990’s was how vastly superior their daily newspapers were to American products. The difference was embarrassing. The New York Times, political bias aside, was mostly drivel. The Washington Post, maybe a tad better. The Globe, a joke. Now that the internet has made distribution a non factor, and papers like the Daily Mail have decent U.S. coverage, American newspapers of national events is largely irrelevant.

Trump points to mother telling the audience to pay attention to her. This is a common gesture the President uses. I recall on election night after having won he pointed the same way to Kelly Conway. He was giving her credit for her contribution to his historic victory.

Trump has been through the hellfires of the dog eat dog worlds of real estate development, reality TV (at the ratings pinnacle 14 years),and the cut-throat gaming industry.

In addition, he made 11 billion dollars at it. From the very beginning, I felt all of that better qualified him for the Presidency than anything else, including time in political office, could. George Washington is the only American President who was better qualified.
