The FAL is the one gun I always wanted but never owned.

Picture a rifle as easy to clean as an AK, with an equal ability to keep running when filthy dirty. Then add ergonomics as good as an AR, and chamber it in .308/7.62x51. And the rifle could have been even better - IIRC, it was originally designed to chamber a British 7mm intermediate cartridge (somewhat similar to the 6.5mm Grendel or 6.8mm SPC), which would have made it a lot easier to control in full auto. But the U.S. military insisted on a NATO cartridge with .30-06 ballistics, so we got the 7.62x51 NATO instead (not that it matters to civilian shooters ;^)...

I have a couple of friends who have FAL’s. We used to go shoot regularly. I did most of the shooting as I always carried AR’s. .308 becomes pretty expensive, pretty quick.

Long, heavy beast the FAL. But if you want one, what are you waiting for?

Also the ladies like the AR. FAL just too big for most. BTW never seen an adjustable stock for one. Friends had fixed stocks and folding stocks. Kids love AR’s. Had a 10 y.o. who was shooting .22 with his family at the local range recently. Never shot an AR before. Blew through 60 rounds in a couple of minutes. You should have seen the smile! I think poor ‘ole dad had to stop by the gun store on the way home.

Ex girlfriend was about 5 ft 100 lbs. She was scary good with an AR. Better shot than most men I know. Took me about 10 minutes to get her confident with the controls, mag changes etc. I think she loved shooting that little weapon more than she loved me!
