We can now add the coronavirus to the ongoing saga of "everything is racist."
On her MSNBC show this morning, Joy Reid, speaking with failed presidential candidate Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, noted that the rates of coronavirus infections and deaths are disproportionately high among African-Americans.
Replying, Gillibrand blamed it on "institutional racism," in both health care and our economy.

Yep. High rates in some of the ultraOrthodox Jewish neighborhoods for the same reason. Big families, high density neighborhoods, very slow to implement social distancing, etc. Their values are very different from the black and hispanic neighborhoods, but reluctance to follow advice from outsiders is the same.
Gee more people of color are contracting the virus because they live in heavily affected areas that happen to concentrated number of people living nearby one another. So cornavirus is a racist virus. Really now all the Chinese, Spainards and Italians, etc too are dying because the virus is a race affecting virus.
The stupidity has been mind boggling. In the past month it has gone completely off the scale. I would wager that these idiots have to use instructions complete with pictures to get their clothes on right every day!!
Good luck trying to get black women to socially distance. Some will, but most will not only refuse but chew your head off in the process.

I saw a video on Youtube saying that infection rates among African-American were lower than those of other races. One guy even said Blacks were "immune" to diseases like coronavirus, so precautions were unnecessary.
Perhaps myths like these are contributing to African-American complacency in the face of a deadly virus.
If Mz. Reid were a real journalist, she would at least check out the claims being made by African-Americans themselves.

In a local city here, it was reported there were games of 5 on 5 full on contact basketball being played.
Yet not a word on that from the media besides the local paper.

African Americans are Zinc deficient. (See citations below.) This is further proof that Zinc plays a critical role in the defense/defeat of Corona virus, esp. when used with chlorquine. Onset of C19 may include pinkeye, and loss of taste and smell. These are symptoms of Zinc deficiency.
