The left’s ‘listen to the science’ mantra is growing old. Trump listened and that’s the problem.

The virus was going to be turned to hysteria by the media if he had ignored it. Hysteria.

Bingo.

And with other countries around shutting down, the accusation would have been that President Trump was remiss in not taking a similar action here.

“The science” is conflated by the left to mean “those scientists with our agenda who act like priests in white lab coats.”

One of the left’s standard attacks on the President is that he doesn’t listen to the science! Sadly, he did listen to the so-called experts who predicted wildly hyperbolic death and destruction and he agreed to the economic shutdown.

Cause and effect: a virus that is as contagious as the common cold but kills up to 7% of those who get it is a serious threat. Would you rather the president didn't listen, allowed business as usual to go on and stand idly by while the virus spreads uncontrollably? The social distancing policies are working. The number of cases worldwide is 1/5 of what it would have been without the infection control policies. If the policies would have been enacted earlier, there would be fewer cases now.

Why is the spread of infectious disease such a difficult concept to grasp? It is a lot like a cancer. Stop it before it has a chance to spread, and it will never be a big problem. Pretend it doesn't exist, and it goes metastatic.

It’s been like this ever since our schools were unionized. The federal Department of Education must be abolished for one thing. Teacher’s unions must be eliminated as well.

Agreed, wait until you hear the squeal when it is suggested teachers double up their classes, morning and afternoon sessions to keep class sizes in half. Imagine them working a full day, for half a year. Oh the humanity.

Problem now is “It is easier to fool a man than to convince them they have been fooled” Tough thing for our “educated” “Let them eat cake crowd”

And if you get data contrary to their preferred data, they acuse you of being a science denier — for doing science.

3.1 million cases and 217,000 dead that may reach 350,000 WORLDWIDE.

Insanity. I think heart disease deaths are at least 4 times that.

Was it really necessary to close schools for this?

Sadly we are juggling working and schooling our kids. I can’t take it anymore. I am not cut out to teach kids. Can’t wait until this insanity is over.

I’m 68, retired, run our small farm and didn’t ask to be raising two young boys, much less become a teacher but that is the hand that I was dealt.

The good Lord will not saddle us with more than we can handle.

This virus is the same group of viri that make up the common cold. And I don't think it has actually killed 7% of any population it's currently in, at most some places early in the disease progression might still be around 3-4%. No one knows how much the lockdown even did - if they keep finding people in the general populace with antibodies already, and no known contacts, then it sounds like a lot of people already went through it, and were either asymptomatic, or misdiagnosed as flu or a cold. Which I'm going to guess they were chalked up to flu, since most docs don't test for it, and CDC loooves inflating the flu numbers.

Why is the idea of personal liberty and limited government so hard to grasp? Since when did Constitutions allow governors to lock down every part of society? Especially for something that had barely touched 99% of the country? There are places all over that have ZERO cases, yet are still locked down just the same. Eight states did NOT issue lockdowns orders, and they're doing just fine on the WuhanVirus side, and way better than everyone else on the economic side. Sure, you treat cancer when you get it, but you don't smash your kneecaps with a bat when all your cancer is in a single fingernail.
