Your Mask Is Making You Meaner, Dumber, More Afraid & Less Safe

...Because you’re wearing one, you’re mad at anyone else who isn’t. You can’t say with any real certainty or evidence that you know you’re right to wear one, or that the other person is wrong not to. But that’s what you were told, and you believed it. So you decided to get a mask and wear it and yes it’s a pain but you believe it’s part of a noble, collective effort to work together and do something big. And so when you see someone who isn’t wearing a mask, you take it personally. You’ve been told that that person doesn’t care about your health and safety. And you believed it. And so you see the person who isn’t wearing a mask as a bad person; one who isn’t willing to chip in, as you are, for the collective greater good. And worse, you see someone who doesn’t care if he or she puts others in harm’s way. You’re wrong. And I’ll explain why shortly. But that hostility you feel for those not wearing masks is both unhealthy and unfounded. Your mask is making you meaner...

I wonder how long we would be told to wear the mask if it had Trump 2020 written on it.

When I come up with a better mask than the makeshift one I have to use at WalMart this afternoon, I am going to write in magic marker. . .Jesus Loves You! on the outside.

I wear a mask when out shopping. Everyone has been extremely polite & I am not angry at non mask wearers. Different strokes for different folks ; )

I hate wearing the mask. I like talking, joking, smiling with my fellow humans, I hate breathing my own CO2. You will never ever get me to believe it is healthier to wear one (except maybe in some extreme situations). But I wear it because we have to, to get into stores. I rip it off proudly the second I get out.

That means nothing to me! You do what’s right for you, I will do what’s right for me. But don’t tell someone else that they need to be wearing a mask because that’s what YOU think is right. You’ve been all twisted up about this crap from day one.

Open up your eyes and ask yourself why they are padding the death numbers. Ask yourself why hospital medical personnel are being laid off. Ask yourself why field hospitals are closing. Ask yourself why your mayors and governors are ignoring their own lockdown orders. Do you really think this is about a virus?

“There’s not just men on this forum by the way. I plan on making fun of all of the young adults wearing masks, not the old folks”

You have no idea what their issues might be (e.g., comorbidities, or a desire to protect a vulnerable person at home), but no sense letting that stand in the way of being an ass.

They’re not really coming for anyone, just seeing how long they can drag this farce out.

I’ve worn a mask although I doubt it does much good but its supposed to protect others if I sneeze or cough, and I do work on a covid floor (not much going on).

Everything is surreal at the moment. If I had worn a mask into some places just a few months ago they would have required me to remove it. Now everyone coming into a store can resemble a potential robber.

My favorite check out lady was complaining too. The masks they had to wear had large gaps at the sides so they’re probably no benefit at all. Why are they encouraging and demanding the wearing of masks if this virus is subsiding? They told us in the beginning they didn’t help. This is when we should have had them on.

I have lung issues, though you wouldn't know it to look at me. And I still have to go get groceries from time to time. I think it shows an uncaring attitude when people refuse to wear a mask when going out where they will be near others, such as in businesses. Especially seeing that a person can have the virus and not have symptoms.

Internal illness or internal damage is invisible to others and no, they can't know just looking at you that you have lung issues.

Some people cannot wear masks also because of lung issues like COPD, a physically damaged lung or even a missing lung. They just cannot get adequate air volume to keep a comfortable amount of air moving with their nose and mouth covered.

So ragging on mask wearers when you don't know their reason for wearing it is just as bad as ragging on one not wearing one and you not knowing the reason.

Used to be everybody used to mind their own frigging business and if you were uncomfortable with someone you just kept the hell away from them. Not start a confrontation that might spiral out of control.

I won't be wearing one for reasons above and have a short fuse for idiots I don't know getting in my face lecturing me. They won't be in my face long.

They’re not really coming for anyone, just seeing how long they can drag this farce out.

There are unforeseen consequences for this.

No Jews in Germany had guns, so when the SS came to put them on the Trains to their final destinations, they went like the sheep they were.

I would say that human nature does not change and many on this forum will do as they are told - be that good, bad, or ugly

You wear a mask shopping for groceries? I guess if you’re in one of the vulnerable categories, it’s smart to do that.

In CA you can’t get in to a store without wearing one. 90% of us have gloves on as well. It’s crazy.

For the last 40 years or so, I've tried various masks and respirators while mixing concrete and mortar from bags and while ripping plaster, lath and insulation from our Victorian era money pit.

Hated them all.

2 weeks ago, was searching for supplied air welding helmets for that and the virus.

Stumbled into info on SUT helmets and supplied air blowers and filters.

In the last 3 years or so, wonderful things have been invented and put together.

I got a Klim R1 helmet and Raceair blower/filter and hoses.

Mounted the blower/filter and a Harbor Freight box to hold a battery on a WWII pressed wood backpack frame.

Works great!

I can have my head in the worst of dust and breathe perfectly clean, cool air.

No fogging of the glasses.

Makes wretched work almost enjoyable.

When out in public, I add a Tyvek suit and vinyl gloves, a mic and amplifier with ear buds to hear people.

I follow bio-warfare removal and decon procedures.

Comfortable, impossible to tough face, wish I had this 40 years ago.

Search around online. You'll find there are several companies making different components of this.

IMHO, the SB particle separators are the best. I got what I did as it's what our local SUT dealer had.

In the interest of honest disclosure...I work alone these days. So at work there is nobody to cough or sneeze on.
