But Vit D gets deposited in fat, so obese people need higher doses.
He’s saying they’re more likely to be deficient.

Perhaps not directly; but it probably does so indirectly, particularly in terms of fatigue, muscle weakness, etc:

Obesity is not caused lack of by Vit D.

I think he point is that the obese are often Vitamin D deficient, not that Vitamin D deficiency causes Obesity.

Correlation is not causation. I could be that the Vitamin D deficiency and the Obesity may be caused by the same factors.

But, the premise here is that the Vitamin D deficiency causes susceptibility to the disease, and the correlation to Obesity is explained by the correlation of Obesity and Vitamin D deficiency, and that it is actually the Vitamin D deficiency that is causing the problem.

I don’t think he’s saying that. Vitamin D is manufactured in the body partly by skin exposure to direct sunlight. He’s saying a lot of obese people don’t show a lot of skin even in summer.

Obesity is not caused lack of by Vit D.

True, but both can be related to thyroid problems.

Obesity is not caused lack of by Vit D.

True, but obese people tend to be inactive couch surfers rather than outdoor types so it's the other way around, obesity may lead to low vitamin D levels.

But obese people are often vitamin D deficient. They need more vitamin D than people with normal weight. For example, see this article.

How sure are you about that?

Even if there weren't studies belying your comment, it would also make sense that being obese meant a propensity for less time playing in the sun ...resulting in lower Vitamin D.

The obese have low blood levels of Vitamin D if for no other reason than their Vitamin D supply is diluted by extra mass.

There are other explanations for lack of vitamin D among the obese. Morbidly obese people are often homebodies. The most bioavailable form of vitamin D comes from the body’s natural generation of it from sun exposure.

People up north are often sequestered in their homes for months on end during the winter. This might explain why infection rates are higher in states/countries north of the tropic of Cancer.

Obesity is not caused lack of by Vit D.

Vitamin D gets tapped in body fat and cannot be metabolised. If you lose weight as the fat is burned Vitamin D is released and levels go up in the blood. Basically fat people are high risk of being deficient in Vitamin D. That's what Adams is referring to.
