We, who are of Italian descent, have much to proud of in Italian history...and, indeed, much of which to be ashamed.
But, in the USA, the respect we had for Columbus was a source of pride here. Well, they couldn’t have that!
Honoring the Genovese, sort of made up for some of the Italian lynchings here, but I think Chris will rise again, and become the man to be honored.
Who else had the cajones to sail thinking he would fall off the earth if he were wrong?
If one has the opportunity to walk up to, or even go on board one of the replicas of Columbus’ ships, what he and his sailors did seems even more amazing.
