But last night I watched a YouTube documentary on World War II in Lithuania

Boy howdy if you want to see how things go south fast and hard that’s a good starting point

First the Soviets invade after the Molotov Ribbentrop pact and the Jewish population is seen by ethnic Lithuanians as assisting the invaders and the Soviets set about slaughtering Lithuanian nationalists

Good times it seems never cease and soon enough operation Barbarossa ends all the fun and the Germans roll in and What is seen as payback starts at first and soon enough becomes Final Solution lurid horror

And at first all the Germans have to do is sit back and watch

The local Lithuanians are more than happy to kill Jews who like Germans rightly or wrongly associate them with Bolshies and Soviet collaborators plus this friction has origins way preceding the 20th century

Probably fifty thousand Jews near the Polnar Forest were murdered brutally by Lithuanians....with blunt weapons ....rounded up and beat to death....Rwanda style

The Germans themselves were set back at the brutality later determining machine guns far more efficient

My point in all this is bad blood causes bad things of unchecked to its ultimate conclusion and all cultures have done it albeit some more “efficiently” than others
