Surely they realized that this case was a powder keg when they were interviewed and chosen. Couldn't a potential juror cite "fear of violence/retaliation" as a reason for not serving? Can the government force you to serve on a jury in spite of public awareness of potential bodily harm? Even the military is composed of volunteers, not draftees.

If the mobs really decide what "justice" is, why ever hold a trial for anything, ever? It means that it's OJ all-over-again, always.
