I don’t think there was anyone who did not like Vin Scully. What an American icon. RIP, Vin.

Larry Elder’s interview with Vin Scully in 2011.

He was an original.

Back in the day, I remember taking a transistor radio into Dodger stadium so I could hear Vinny call the game taking place right in front of me. I wasn’t the only kid to do that, either.

He was arguably the greatest baseball voice ever. Loved him calling the game in the movie “For The Love Of The Game”. RIP

I did the same.

For those who might not know why people did this, when the Dodgers moved to LA they played at the Memorial Coliseum. As a football venue it was horrible as even those 50 yard line seats were far away from the field. As a baseball venue it was worse. So fans brought their radios to figure what was happening.

When the Dodgers moved to Dodger Stadium they carried on the tradition. They even piped in Vin Scully when you went to the concession stand.

There’s a bouncer over the mound, over second base, Mantilla has it, throws low and wild and Hodges scores, we go to Chicago!

It was Eckersley. Gossage was the guy who hit Ron Cey in the head in the 1981 World Series. Back to back home runs in the 7th by Guerrero and Yeager beat Guidry 2-1. I was there. https://youtu.be/TPiNZO2Bdjg
